Education for 'national' citizenship in the context of devolution and ethno-religious conflict

A seminar series funded by the ESRC.

Dr Dina Kiwan, has been awarded funding in the ESRC Seminar Series Competition. The Seminar Series is co-directed by Professor John Annette and will run over two years through the International Centre for Education for Democratic Citizenship (ICEDC). The series commences in January 2009.

Professor John Annette is Professor of Citizenship and Lifelong Learning, and Pro-Vice-Master at Birkbeck College, University of London. He is chair of the ICEDC. He has researched and written widely on deliberative democracy, active citizenship, community involvement and life-long learning. His publications include (with B.Crick and A. Lockyer eds.) Education for Democratic Citizenship: Issues of theory and practice (2003) and co-edited with Marjorie Mayo, Taking Part?: Active Learning for Active Citizenship, and beyond (2010).
