Claire graduated as an Electrical Engineer at the University of Malta, and worked as a GIS Consultant and Software Developer for ten years in Malta, the Sultanate of Oman, the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. She also completed an MSc in Geographic and Geodetic Information Systems from University College London (UCL) around half way through this period, and chose to return to UCL for her PhD.
Her research relates to the efficient querying of three-dimensional topological relationships in spatial databases, along with applications of these queries in the wider context of 3D GIS.
As well as lecturing part-time at Birkbeck, Claire is also employed as a Research Fellow at UCL and at London Metropolitan University.
